Guide by style
| Style | How often |
|---|---|
| Skin fade | Every 2 to 3 weeks |
| Taper | Every 3 to 5 weeks |
| Standard short cut | Every 3 to 5 weeks |
| Longer or scissor cut | Every 6 to 8 weeks |
| Kids cut | Every 4 to 6 weeks |
| Beard line-up | Every 1 to 3 weeks |
Signs you are due
- The fade line has blurred and looks fuzzy
- Hair is sitting over your ears or collar
- Your usual styling no longer holds the shape
- Your beard line has grown up the cheek or down the neck
Making it easier
Book your next appointment before you leave, or set a reminder in Fresha. Regular visits are often quicker, because the barber is maintaining a shape instead of rebuilding it.
How fast does hair grow?
Hair grows about 1 to 1.5 cm a month on average. On a skin fade, even a few millimetres of growth blurs the blend, which is why fades need touch-ups sooner than longer styles.
Women's short cuts and kids
- Pixie cut: every 4 to 6 weeks to keep the shape
- Undercut: every 3 to 4 weeks to keep the shaved section clean
- Trim the ends: every 8 to 12 weeks for longer hair
- Kids: every 4 to 6 weeks, or before school photos and the new term
